Dan has over 25 years of experience in the mortgage and IT industries. From his humble beginnings as a microfiche/file clerk at a title company, he learned the basics of the mortgage and property title industry. In a little over 3 years’ time, he worked in nearly every aspect of the mortgage process from processor to underwriter to post closing review analyst and finally as a mortgage system administrator. At the end of his first year as a mortgage system administrator, he was awarded employee of the year honors from a company of around 1000 employees. Later he went on to become a programmer and a Certified Encompass Developer, working with Progress OpenEdge, Microsoft Visual .NET and C# as well as developing reports in Crystal, MS Access and SQL reporting services. In the pre-TRID mortgage days, he created a process which kept track and compared GFE and TIL disclosure values to current values in loans to warn loan officers when a loan needed to be re-disclosed. He also created a reporting process to calculate monthly and yearly commission values, which changed based on a multitiered structure of monthly loan count and/or total monthly loan amount. Later, he created a process which scanned all loans submitted to underwriting and assigned each loan to an underwriter based on the loan characteristics, the underwriter’s qualifications and load balancing. On a personal note, he is a father of 3, a drummer, and has been an background actor in 3 feature films.
